Johnny Cash’s Cowboy Bebop

This is a pretty simple concept, but one that’s rather beautiful in execution. It’s Johnny Cash’s God’s Going to Cut You Down mixed up with footage from the famed anime Cowboy Bebop.

It’s one of those things I need to catch up with. I’m about four episodes in, but I got distracted and have to work my way back to it. Is that movie adaptation still happening with Keanu Reeves? I feel like I heard about that years ago, but nothing for a while.

  1. You simply can’t appreciate the anime, Tassi, that’s why you got distracted. I’ve been reading your site for a few years now, and as far as I can judge from your ratings and reviews, you just won’t be able to enjoy it.

  2. The Hollywood Bebop adaptation was stricken down by a wise and just god of some sort to spare us from the awful experience of seeing Reeves attempt to play Spike Spiegel. This vid (which is awesome) is specifically footage from the Bebop film “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” (also awesome), in case anyone cares.

  3. Man, you should get back into it, the 5th episode was one of the best, and the first of the main plot-line of the show.

And it truly is a great series, whether you like anime or not.

  4. Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime and always will be. I especially love that it was only designed to be a filler show that aired in between two seasons of another show.
