While we’re not 100% sure, we’re all but certain there were no Comic Con predecessors that dated back to the time where men wore skirts, crowns, robes, and Shakespeare type gear. Sure people were into nerdy stuff in every century but can you imagine if today’s superheroes and villains existed in the 16th century?
