10 Things You Didn’t Know About Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal

Doom first premiered on December 10th, 1993. The game is recognized by many gaming fanatics globally as the debut of games that are played from the viewpoint of the leading characters, First Person Shooter games (FPS). Since its first release 26 years ago, the multi-dimensional game has sold more than 10 million copies and extended its franchise to film making. Its parent company recently announced plans to release a new version of the game called Doom Eternal on November 22nd, 2019.

1. Its developer

Id Software Limited Company developed the game, and Bethesda Game Studios issued it. Id Software LLC was established in 1991 by four employees of Softdisk LLC, an American internet and software applications company located in Louisiana. The four, namely John Romero, John Carmack, Adrian Carmack, and Tom Hall, admitted Nintendo dismissed their first pitch and game ideas. Their earliest games such as “Dangerous Dave” amassed a considerable following that established a good base for their next games. Their first debut game “Commander Keen” was a quick hit when it was released in 1990. The four computer specialists, game engineers, and programmers are known for revolutionizing the game industry. They introduced 3Dimensional graphics, 3Dimensional viewpoint, connected multi-player gaming, and created player-modification features. According to Fun and Serious, the gaming sector is currently making twice what the movie and music industry are making in revenues. Its report cited that the industry is experiencing a 12.6 yearly growth.

2. Its storyline

The first Doom title’s story revolved around marines whose purpose is to protect the United States Aerospace Corporation from hell creatures. The demonic forces arrived because of the company’s teleportation experiments that established a pathway between planets. Similarly, players in new Doom Eternal will be fighting five hell demons, namely the Revenant, Pain Elemental, Mancubus, Arch-vile, and Marauder. The Demon-slayer will be playing from the third perspective, and his objective is to prevent the leaders of all demons from invading the earth. Gamers can also play as the Demon-slayer in FPS viewpoint. IGN Africa reported that id Software disclosed they are on the path to creating something more than a Doom game, something he termed as “Doom Universe.”

3. Its gaming platforms

Fortunately for gaming fans, Doom Eternal will be released through diverse giant electronic corporations such as Google Stadia, Nintendo, Stadia, PlayStation4, Xbox One, Switch, and Microsoft windows. Id Software has added three electronic companies to its game distributing circle. Its first trailer was showed on ‘QuakeCon’ on August 10th, 2018 and featured three pilot demonstrations.

4. Its reception

Fans and critics have watched its 15-minute trailer, and everyone is sharing their thoughts on the upcoming game. For instance, Tech Radar published that the game is a fast and energetic title with adrenaline-infused soundtracks. According to Forbes, its speed, level of violence, and adventure make it incredible and glorious. Like its previous titles, “Doom Eternal” has had a positive reception from fans and commentators.

5. Its distinctive new features

Characters enjoy a new pack of features that make it straightforward and exciting. Unlike its predecessors, the upcoming “Doom Eternal” will allow gamers to battle evil parties from the earth rather than battling them from Mars as it was in the 1993 Doom. It also allows users to journey to other planets and fight against angelic forces in an alien world called Heaven. The game also features a new mode that drives two demons to combat against one Demon-slayer. Its characters can perform combined movements and stride much faster, making the game more aggressive and harsh. Characters have new advanced weapons which the game explains in its preview. For example, the Doom-slayer has a futuristic mini- teargas that can paralyze enemies, an armory of guns, several melee attack skills, fragment grenades, and many others. Killing hidden enemies has been made easier because gamers can detonate rockets behind demons by shooting them.

6. Its timeframe

It is worth noting that different players approach games with varying strategies of playing, implying that the time gamers take to complete may vary. A report by QuakeCon revealed that this new version is likely to be challenging and longer compared to the previous titles. Fans should anticipate being able to complete the game for around 18 to 22 hours, depending on their playing speed.

7. Its system requirements

For PC players, the game requires an Intel Corei7 processor that has a minimum speed of 3.4GHz or an FX 8350 processor that can support a 1080 graphic resolution. Users will also need 8 GB of RAM for the game to operate smoothly on their computers. The game can also play in low graphics computers that have a minimum hard disk space of 2 GB. It is only compatible with computers that can install and run application software known as DirectX.

8. Its prices

There is a minimal variance in the cost of “Doom Eternal.” On the PlayStation store, its Standard Edition goes for $59.99 while the Deluxe Edition costs $89.99. Playing the game in Google Stadia costs $130 inclusive of Chromecast Ultra and $69 without the High-Dimensional google drive. Its Nintendo Switch box will sell for 59.99 and comes with a free shipping offer. Xbox, on the other hand, is selling its Xbox One Deluxe Edition for $89 and the Standard Edition for $59.99.

9. Its character development

Similar to other FPS games, its characters improve in skills and weapons ammunition as they advance further in the game. It is a strategic game that requires players to blow through demons while fighting evil forces and maneuver the beasts to avoid being killed. Characters become stronger with time, and they can gain new lives that they can use in case they ‘die.’

10. Its setbacks

Like many other products, “Doom Eternal” is prone to mistakes in design and has a few disadvantages. It provides too much service to the fans when it comes to defeating the demons, due to the characters’ new abilities thus can feel less challenging. It has the latest features that resemble other FPS games, something that makes it lose its uniqueness as a ‘Doom’ game that should have an outstanding identity.
