Classic Movie Scenes As Drawn By the Ottoman Empire
It’s usually ancient Japanese art or hieroglyphics that get all the fun pop culture adaptations, but it’s nice to see someone representing the Ottoman Empire for a change.
Turkish Artst Murat Palta (via Neatorama) decided to do her ancestors proud (I hope that’s right, I don’t know much about the Ottomans) and recreate a huge number of famous movie scenes in their famous art style.
The results are pretty damn cool, and it’s fun trying to guess what each of these are. Can you get them all? Some are pretty obvious, but others may take a minute or two to deduce. Check them all out below:
These are great! I’ve always loved Ottoman illustrations, or “miniature,” as it’s called. The artwork itself can actually be very beautiful when you get past the lack of realism (which was lacking by purposeful choice, not for lack of skill, but for cultural and religious reasons), and I love all the colors and patterns.
