The Seven Best Babysitters in Movies
Did anyone have a hot baby sitter when they were a kid? I remember mine. Her name was Maureen and she lived across the street from me. I used to love the days when my parents would go out at night. Just me and Maureen. Ah, those were the days.
It’s also fun to have people like cool Uncles and Aunts doing the baby sitting. You always get away with more stuff when the folks are away. Speaking of which, I’m a big fan of baby sitters in movies.
They’re always the coolest. Here are my picks for the best baby sitters in movies…..
Elisabeth Shue in Adventures in Babysitting
Shue’s character in this movie has got to be hands down one of the best in cinema history. This had classic 80s movie written all over it and the movie delivered…at least on Shue being the hot, cool babysitter who takes all the kids on an adventure. Let’s face it, if you were into curly blonds who weren’t that thin but had that great All American look, Elisabeth Shue was it.
Alicia Silverstone in The Babysitter
I feel like not that many people have seen this movie and let me just say that it’s worth seeing. When you really get down to it, the film has a very independent film type feel exploring the fantasies of all these people in relation to the Lolita like character that Silverstone plays. Plus you see her all bubbled up in a bath tub, which is nice.
*Howie Mandel in Little Monsters
I put a star here but come on. He was definitely like a babysitter in this movie. And if you’re a kid and you can go into this underground world where there’s free candy, it’s pretty awesome.
John Candy in Uncle Buck
Is Uncle Buck the best baby sitter of all time? I’m pretty sure he’s right up there. I would vote for him being number one. At least out of all the male candidates.
Rebecca De Mornay in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
Notice I said seven best in the title. It didn’t mean they had to be good baby sitters. It just meant they had to be pretty awesome. And let’s face it. De Mornay’s character breast fed her clients! Now that’s devotion.
Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music
You can’t form a list like this without adding Julie Andrews. It’s a no brainer.
Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire
Helllloooooo!
*And no I’m not adding that old lady from Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. She sucked. Also I’m not sure I can put in Eddie Murphy in Daddy Day Care. I just can’t stand him in anything past 1989.
Mrs. Doubtfire always reminds me at this awesome Recut Trailer! Check it out!
