That Guy Actor of the Week: Abraham Benrubi
It’s tough to pick something you all might know Abraham Benrubi from. The reason is because many of you are simply too young to remember Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. In that he played Larry Kubiac. However, Benrubi did in fact have a regular role on ER for a while. So maybe you know him from that? The bottom line is that I highly doubt you knew his real name.
Benrubi is the perfect “oaf” type of character. Any time you need a big guy who can seem sort of dumb, sweet, and protective you should basically hire Benrubi. I happen to have enjoyed him in The Program.
His latest TV role was on Memphis Beat and he’s got a couple of movies in production. He’s only 42 years old so hopefully he’s got a lot of life left in that burly body.

So random but I definitely enjoy this. Talk about pointless questions.
I particularly enjoyed him as Anya’s ex-husband whom she turned into an ogre on Buffy.
P O T A T O light.. is good.
I love these articles.
I hate seeing Tom Cruise in anything because as soon as I see him I think “Well, here’s Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise as (insert generic hero name here).” and it completely takes me out of the movie.
But character actors that are featured in these articles total blend into what they are playing and don’t take me out of the moment. These people work their trade, don’t run away with their own egos and get the job done.
Please keep these coming.
Big fan of ‘The Program’, eh?
‘Parker Lewis Can’t Lose’, anyone?
Just dated myself, didn’t I? Dam.
Herp. Its right there in Natty’s writeup. Derp.
His dad is a radio DJ where I live. I remember him in Parker Lewis can’t lose, I loved that show, it was Tre’ cool. Also, he was Roy’s gay son on Wings. He’s one of my favorite “that guy” actors.
He is co-owner of the brewery/restaurant Brugge Brasserie in Indianapolis.
