Pokemon That are Actually Based on Real Living Things
We’re all aware that Pokemon are based on animals, but some of those Pokemon are way more based on animals than you’d realize. As in based on very specific species and containing very specific traits and features unique to certain types of animals.
Gorebyss is the long-nosed chimaera
Caterpie is based on the Eastern tiger swallowtail caterpillar
Mudkip is based on the axolotl
Krookodile is a gharial
Vileplume is a Rafflesia arnoldii
Chatots are pretty much yellow collared lovebirds
Victreebel is a pitcher plant
Sandslash is a pangolin
Drowzee is a Malayan tapir
Shellos is based on Chromodoris lochi
Stunfisk is a stargazer
Drowsee better resembles a Malayan Tapir
As for the axolotl it’s always reminded me more of an armless wooper.
