10 What the Frak Moments in Battlestar Galactica History

7) Final Four Revealed

Most definitely one of the biggest frak moments on the list. Cylon reveals were usually painstaking ordeals, slowly unmasking them one at a time, but four of them, all at once? Insane. And not to mention most of them were characters we had all grown to love over the past three season. Newcomers like Anders and Tory weren’t as shocking, but Tyrol and Tigh? Absolutely insane at the time.

8 ) Earth is Frakked Up

I’m still a little disappointed with the final Earth situation upon arrival. Seeing the fleet broach Earth’s airspace was truly a majestic sight, but that was fleeting as they immediately landed in a pile of radioactive mud. Then we learned that Cylon’s had populated Earth before (so that would be…us?) and they were wiped out by nukes from the heavens, sent by…? More of Earth’s mysteries are still to be revealed in the finale. At least I would hope so.

9) Starbuck Finds Her Body

This moment was so frakked up it even freaked the seemingly all-knowing Leoben out. We saw Kara die, we saw her return, and now we see how both make sense. There are (at least) two Starbucks. We don’t know why that is, she could be a Cylon, a half Cylon, or something else entirely, but it’s certainly one of the mysteries we’re most anxious to see explained.10) Ellen Tigh: Final Cylon

Speculation about the final Cylon was at beyond a fever pitch when the second half of season 4 premiered. Everyone had their guesses, charts and graphs about who it would be (mine was Billy), and I don’ t think many wanted to believe it was Ellen Tigh, one of the show’s most hated characters. But clearly it had been planned for quite some time (see Baltar’s Cylon-detector test of Ellen back in season 1), and it clearly fits into a larger picture somehow. One final thought. Is anyone else as nervous as I am at the incredibly steep hill BSG has to climb tonight in only two hours? There are an astronomical amount of questions yet to be answered, and even if they were explained purely in exposition form, I feel it would take way more than two hours to get through them all.Do you trust the show to give you a satisfying ending? I really want to say yes, but I just don’t know. This isn’t The Sopranos. They can’t just hit the lights and expect everyone to say it was “artsy.” We need answers. I just hope they can give them to us.

  1. Another consideration for the list, somewhat co-inciding with the whole ‘WOAH Starbuck died??!!!’ moment would be finding out that Daniel was her father.

It still makes my spine shiver to hear them play that awesome rendition of All Along The Watch Tower.

Nearly as much as seeing the The Return of The King trailer with Requiem for a Dream going on in the background.

  2. Or the Bonus WTF moment:

The first Earth (nuked Earth) was the real Earth but not *our* Earth.

Oh and we’re all descendants of Hera. And Cylons by the way too.

Of course none of this was known at the time this article was written.
