A Genius Wrapped This Present

Published by under Images,Video Games

We didn’t just get done with Halloween, so we’re not having a best jack-o-lantern or best costume submission contest, but if we were, and for the Christmas season our category was “best wrapped presents” this would have definitely won Wow, was that ever a longwinded way of saying “look at this cool thing.”

The portal box is genius, right down to the split bow, but I have to wonder, did they buy two copies of the game, or literally saw one in half? I would imagine that would be a bit difficult to do. I’d actually laugh if they opened it up and there were two halves of a game disc in there.

“SUCK IT MARK YOU’LL NEVER HAVE PORTAL!”

“MOOOM, JASON CUT PORTAL IN HALF!”

“SHUT UP MARK, YOU”RE SUCH A BABY!”

“Be nice to your brother.”

Wait, You Can Cook in Skyrim? And It’s Good?

Published by under Video Games,Videos

Even now, I’m still finding out new facts about Skyrim that are blowing my mind. I thought that the fire pit in the middle of my house was just there so I could toss Lydia onto it if she annoyed me too much, I didn’t realize that you could actually COOK with it.

Now, I wouldn’t normally think to care about cooking, even if it’s existence has surprised me, but this video has shown me that it can actually be pretty damn useful in the game. Namely, that a good beef stew can increase your stamina regen to the point where you can do power attacks infinitely for up to twelve minutes per stew.

As Carl Weathers might say, “Throw some dragon bones in there, and you got yourself a stew goin’!”

Hail the Pokemaster, Baby

Published by under Images,Video Games

I’m frankly surprised it took someone this long to do a mashup like this, but finally the idea of Ash Ketchum chainsawing undead demon Pokemon has come to life.

At one point, this was a tee shirt on one of those daily deal sites, but alas, that is an age long past, and I doubt you can still buy it. We must treasure it as a simple image.

Funny, this actually combines two of my Halloween costumes from the last four years. Next Halloween…could I…? I could…

Metaknight: Overthinking The Dark Knight Rises

Published by under Editorials,Movies

An Unreality guest post by Zack Ruskin.

Why I picked it: It’s part of my job to be up on the latest movie news and happenings, and more often than not that involves me seeing entirely TOO much of upcoming movies I wish I could just experience when they were released. Zack feels that this is happening currently with The Dark Knight Rises, a sentiment I would agree with after being emailed photo set after photo set of paparazzi set snaps each day.

As I waited for the lights to dim at the Sony Metreon and an IMAX-sized Bane to wreak a prologue’s worth of havoc, I wondered: was there any other movie I would be this excited to see six minutes of? Regardless of the answer, here I was, about to watch over two hours of Tom Cruise and explosions, $20 poorer and for what? A chance to see one scene from a movie that won’t be released until next summer.

The culture of The Dark Knight Rises, really all of Nolan’s Batman series, is unparalleled. From the interactive online and real-world viral marketing gameplay that leads hungry fans to early photo stills, trailer snippets and sometimes more substantial treasure, to paparazzi who photograph any outdoor scene they can slither close to so we can all salivate over blurry footage of Batman standing on a sidewalk. Have we crossed the threshold where we are so rabid for a movie franchise that we’re willing to spoil it for ourselves?

This Exists: Bugs Dressed Up as Jurassic Park Characters

What the…? I don’t even…? I’m very much struggling to understand what’s going on here.

Apparently there’s an Etsy user who is selling dead giant beetles fully dressed up in Jurassic Park clothing to look like various characters from the movie. It’s so WTF, that “WTF” doesn’t even cover the magnitude of how WTF it really is.

I guess seller Erin Pearce is just a really big fan of both beetles and Jurassic Park, and those two passions came together in the most unlikely of ways.

Check out the other characters if you dare below:

There’s a Samurai Pokemon Game? Tell Me More

Published by under Images,Video Games

Well this is one bit of promotional imagery that caught my eye. How could I not notice a bunch of people in battle armor with Pokemon at their heels? Is Nintendo finally moving Pokemon on up from a kids game, and letting people train them besides Bug Catchers and Swimmers?

Sort of. As it turns out, this is an upcoming crossover game between Pokemon and Nobunga’s Ambition, which is a Japanese title rooted in the history of that country, though it appears it’s about to get a lot more fictional. I don’t know any more details past this so far, but I believe it’s a 3DS title, and I doubt we’ll see it in America. Ultra sadness.

Check out more promotional images from the game below. I would totally be the Mewtwo Samurai.

Memorable Moments in TV: The Dog Brothers from MTV

Published by under Columns

Before there was Jersey Shore and before the absolute tornado of reality crap came onto the scene, there were bits of reality TV that were absolutely hilarious on MTV.   Take for example the series “Sex in the 90s.”  Anyone remember that?

Well for all you youngsters out there, MTV did a segment that featured these two totally trashy guys from….most likely New Jersey or Staten Island and they were called the “Dog Brothers.”  Essentially they were guido types who would harass women and get laid a lot.   The even had a car called the Sin Bin.

Bottom line?  They were awesome.   If you haven’t seen this clip then you’re in for a treat.
