Unreality’s Reader Halloween Costume Contest!

Published by under News

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and no, I don’t mean Christmas. Yes, presents are nice, but Halloween has a leg up because of all the awesome costumes we get to see. Between all the homemade amateur outfits and pro cosplayers, we love costumes here on the site, and as such, Halloween is kind of our Mecca.

Yes, I will be featuring my own costume, and probably the girfriend’s too as we did last year, but I also wanted to open it up to our readers. If YOU have an amazing costume this Halloween, we want to see it. The best one sent to me (paul@unrealitymag.com) over this weekend and through Halloween on Monday will win a DVD or Blu-ray of their choice. You will also get the high honor of being the lead image on an Unreality post, which you can’t really put a price on.

If there are enough cool costumes, I’ll make a full gallery, if not, I’ll probably just try to find some around the internet. So yeah, if you think you’ve got a great costume, dress up, take a few pictures, and send them over to me for a chance to win!

Published by under Final Countdown

Go here to see more Not Okay Halloween costumes.

So I guess there’s this ad campaign going on to prevent people going as racial stereotypes for Halloween. While I agree with the message, the parody of the campaign is absolutely worth checking out and pretty hilarious most times.

Brilliant Costume of the Day: Angelina +1

Published by under Images,Movies

I’ve seen a few of these “someone carrying someone else” costumes floating around over the past year or two, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better one that this. Angeline with baby in tow (Asian no less), is by far the most creative use of that concept I’ve seen. Granted, you have to ceremoniously chop the head off of a baby doll to do it, but I think it was worth it.

Fun fact: I actually went as Brad Pitt for Halloween a few years back. I had spiked hair, sunglasses, black and Asian toddler dolls (the Asian with a mohawk) and a newborn white kid, Shiloh. Oh, the days when they only had three kids.

One more view of this costume after the jump:

Mr. Bean Teaches Us All How to Dougie

Published by under Television,Videos

Alright, I’ll admit this is an inherently stupid video, but Mr. Bean’s entire act is inherently stupid, which is what makes it so damn hilarious. I grew up watching him, and the man has so much comedic talent, he doesn’t even have to talk to make you laugh.

As it turns out, combining his rather memorable dance movies with “Teach Me How to Dougie” makes for a rather hypnotizing and hilarious video. You may not like the song, but if you don’t laugh in the first fifteen seconds of this video, there’s something wrong with you.

Another song gets subbed in (Mr. Bombastic) below if you want more:

A Long Time Ago…

Published by under Images,Movies

I won’t normally just throw up any Threadless shirt that needs voting, but when they’re this cool? I have to make an exception.

Simply titled “A long time ago,” the design re-imagines C-3PO and R2D2 as a golden knight and his trusty shield, which doesn’t necessarily have to be in a galaxy far far away. It’s just a cool rendition of the characters I would have never imagined, and you can vote on it here if you’d like to see it go to print so you can purchase one yourself. Personally, I’d rather have a poster.

A Brief Announcement

Published by under News

Hello readers, hows it going? Getting ready for Halloween? Me too. I’m polishing my ceremonial dagger (not a euphemism) and getting ready to head out tonight as Nathan Drake.

But before that, I wanted to make a brief announcement about a minor site change. Some of you have noticed that  some of our longer articles, we now break up them up into pages. This doesn’t effect many of our posts, but longer reviews, galleries, or lists are being broken down. Usually into 2 or 3 pages, sometimes up to six.

We’re not doing this because we hate you, I promise. The fact is, as much as I love writing Unreality, the site is a business, and on the internet we need to be as clear as possible with all articles.   Frankly scrolling on and on kind of messes with our layout and the aesthetic of the site. Breaking up pages is a way to keep the articles more succinct and organized for us.

So please, readers, we’re not asking for donations, we’re literally asking for another click or two from you, which…doing the math here, adds up to probably one or two seconds of your time per day and makes our site way more organized.  We’re not going to start doing 30 page IGN lists, I promise, but we needed to do this to help the site grow more professional (gotta compete with the big boys!) Our content itself will remain the same level of awesome it always has, and hopefully these few clicks on a few posts is honestly not too much to handle.

Anyway, we love you guys, and as much as we’d love to have everything on one page, we just can’t swing that. Hope you understand.

A Great Gallery of Pokemon Collage Art

Published by under Images,Video Games

Let’s skip the whole “woe is me, more Pokemon on Unreality” thing, because you cannot tell me that this gallery isn’t awesome. It’s from artist Botjira, who is a master paper crafter. Yes, these are not drawn, rather they are collages assembled out of paper and cut out and put together.

It really is a wicked cool art style, and it’s like if Wes Anderson came in and did a Pokemon revamp. There are new school and old school Pokemon alike in here, and between the color and the craftsmanship, this is one of my favorite Poke-galleries to date. And there have been a lot of them.

Check out the fully gallery below, and click to enlarge on any of the pictures.

Photo of the Week: This Would be a Fantastic Halloween Costume

Published by under Images

In reality this is an old photo taken of Hayden Panettiere at Oktoberfest.   In fantasy land this would be an ideal costume for just about any lady looking to score some serious attention points on Halloween.

Which reminds me.  What are you guys gonna go as this year?  I’m thinking Celebrity-wise there’s gonna be a ton of Charlie Sheen and Lady Gaga’s running around.

Personally I’d like to get a hardcore Willy Wonka suit.   Hell I love that suit to begin with.  I just wish it were socially acceptable to wear on days other than Halloween.

The Most Inspirational Fictional Movie Moms

Published by under Lists,Movies

It isn’t mother’s day.   In fact the holiday isn’t even close yet.   Still though, I found myself watching Forrest Gump yesterday and I never realized how awesome Sally Field was in this movie.  And it got me thinking about movie moms.

Not just movie moms who were good.  That’s a fun list and a huge one at that.  But I was thinking more along the lines of movie moms who are inspiring.

I’ve put together a short list of  movie mothers I thought inspired….
