The Pixar Theory: What A Load of Crap

Yes, I understand that we’ve talked about this before but I just had to sound off on this and see how many people would join me. Let me back up just in case you have no idea what I’m talking about. The Pixar Theory is something that a blogger by the name of Jon Negroni came up with after he watched a video from Cracked.com. If you visit the link, you will go to his page where he has gone through in painstaking detail and described bit by bit what he considers to be how all Pixar animated films are connected in some fashion.

After I read Paul’s post on this theory a while back, I was immediately amazed at how much time someone would take to come up with this. Not only that, but how much I was unaware of this supposed connection. (considering the fact that I loved most Pixar films and considered myself to be a HUGE fan of them … but that’s beside the point) It frustrated me that I never once caught on to any of this other than the few clever easter eggs that Pixar would place in their films time and time again. Though, is there really a theory to be had or is it simply someone stretching their thought process …?

Am I the only one that doesn’t buy into any of this!? I find the majority of it just to be too much of a stretch for me to really believe. Now, I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade – people can believe whatever they want to. I’m just here to sound off on the fact that when you try and make any sense out of the movie Cars being connected to…well…anything that is Pixar made, I find it laughable. I will commend Jon for taking the time to flesh out his theory and to really put some passion behind it, but when you use the idea of jumping years ahead in the future to explain things, then you lose my attention. The idea behind space/time travel breaks the door wide open for a plethora of events to occur and makes it easier for these so called “theories” to be bought into.

I’m a fan of Pixar just making good movies for kids and adults alike. They specialize in making movies that have strong characters, amazing CGI, and powerful/original stories that remain fun to watch over and over again. Do they find ingenious ways of intertwining some of their films with these nimble little eater eggs? – they sure do. Did they ever intend for it to be what people are buzzing about now-a-days? – I doubt it. I’m open to anyone proving me wrong or at least trying to convince me that I should believe the hype. But for now you can consider me to be quite the skeptic of this theory.
