Superheroes Get Their Asses Handed to Them

We all have seen our superheroes in their most triumphant moments, towering over some bad guy they’ve recently taught a lesson. But we don’t usually see them at their lowest points, when they’ve gotten their asses absolutely handed to them in a fight.

That was the inspiration for this series of prints from pop artist Boneface, who has taken a number of our greatest heroes, and reduced them to bleeding messes. They all bleed pink for some reason, probably to provided an interesting color contrast. Dark red is so 2009.

Check out the rest below as you’ll see Captain America, Batman and then The Thing giving new meaning to “getting blood out of a stone.”

  1. Gah, the colors! And using stubble as a defining feature on all of the undiscernable faces. I dislike these. I liked how the Arkham City posters handled Batman getting bloody in a way that showed high contrast between colors, not this sub-Warhol stuff.

  2. Bad Acid is right. AC did make Batman look all messed up. I dont quite get the art Style with no real detail. I could of drawn these pics when I was 8…..

  4. JZ you’re such a jerk. He was just framing the concept of the line of artwork, not making some blanket statement about the history of comics.

    Lighten up.
