Playing the Trap Card
Alright, I’m not entirely sure Magic: The Gathering even has trap cards (is that Yu-Gi-Oh?) but I couldn’t resist the headline. Lindsey, mentioned in the card, tells the story of how she got engaged via a faux Magic card:
“Eric played Time Spiral, a card that forced me to shuffle my hand back into my library. Well, I cheated and placed the proposal card on my lap. No way was I going to risk not drawing it again. Fortunately, at this point I was able to play Mirari’s Wake, which doubled my mana, allowing me to play my expensive Sorcery. I laughed and said, “I think I just won the game” and threw the card down. Eric was perplexed for a moment, because he is a long time MtG player and knew all, and I mean ALL, the cards. It took him a moment to read the text, and another moment for realization to dawn upon him.”
Yeah, they’re totally perfect for each other. And this is awesome. Nerds forever (*raises fist in air*)

If he knew ALL the cards, he would recognize this as a reworded version of the card that Magic: The Gathering creator, Richard Garfield, used to propose to his wife Lily Wu. (The original used their names instead of Eric and Lindsey.)
Richard had it printed up on the official card stock, and as far as I know, this uniquely rare card remains in their collection to this day, along side the special cards created to mark the births of their two sons.
5 mana is too much for a white deck. I wouldn’t put it in my library.
