Holy Biceps Batman!
Yes, I suppose I am titling this post as if I were Robin picking up the latest issue of Empire from the Batcave. But superhero jealousy aside, this picture is why this film has a running start over past iterations of Superman.
Why? Because he actually looks like Superman. Compare this to the promo shots of Brandon Routh we saw before Superman Returns. Routh looks like a moderately fit guy wearing pajamas. Henry Cavill looks like a monster wearing a superhero suit.
What I’m wondering is if his bulk is legit, or is somehow CGI or molding aided. If you look at other pictures of him on set, you’ll see something similar, but I have a feeling he’s getting a bit of extra help from the suit. Not that that’s bad, but I’m just not sure he’s got those head-width biceps in real life.
Is his cape…velvet? George Costanza would be proud.
it’s gortex!
I guess Superman has the suit from the same company as Spiderman does.
You can take away his red underwear. I’ve accepted that.
But give the man his S-curl. Even a subtle one.
@Paul
That bulk is legit. He has stated that he went on a 5000 calorie a day regime along with a daily 2.5 hour work out.

Here’s what the interview said:
“I’m on 5000 calories a day… You’ve got to eat protein first, then a little bit of carbs…you’ve gotta keep your hunger levels going,”…”I’m training two and a half hours a day, pushing my body beyond its normal limits, putting on a lot of muscle mass and just making myself look like Superman.”

Wow, he does look pretty monstrous in that set photo.
Glad they got rid of the curl, that looked hella dumb.
Meh, he looks like he is in shape, but he doesn’t look nearly as “Superman” as Christopher Reeve. There is nothing “Kansas farm boy” meets “Stalwart symbol of Liberty” with a little “Butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth” about this guy.
