The Bride – Kill Bill
She made slicing through 88 trained samurais look like cutting through butter and managed to make someone’s heart explode by finger-tapping their chest. The Bride is fuelled by bloody vengeance, until she gets all weepy eyed at the end, that is. Still she remains Quentin Tarantino‘s best creation.
Maggie Hayward – Point of No Return
She may have started off as street trash but once recruited into an underground spy operation Maggie becomes a trained killer. She just doesn’t know that she’s actually being trained to kill.
Mitch Leary – In The Line of Fire
Perhaps John Malkovich’s best role, Leary is a former CIA Assassin dead set on removing the President. He’s a master of disguise and one hell of a crafty weapons maker.
Vincent – Collateral
One of Cruise’s best performances and his standout of the last decade, Vincent is an impulsive assassin, going with the flow or whatever. He’ll chuck a fat Angelino out the window without batting an eyelid.
The Professor – The Bourne Identity
He doesn’t talk. He doesn’t do much. He’s just really good at killing people. Plus he’s Clive Owen.
Other cool ones include Chev Chelios in Crank, Michael Sullivan in Road To Perdition, Jeff Costello in Le Samourai, Lone Man in Limits of Control, Julian Noble in The Matador, Martin Blank in Grosse Point Blank.

How about the little girl in Kick Ass? I think her name is just Hit Girl in the movie and she is played by Chloe Grace Moretz. The scene where she goes in to save her dad is one of the most badass scenes I’ve witnessed in a movie.
The Operative in Serenity is one of my favorites.

I agree with Demtor on the unfortunate lack of Chow Yun Fat; I also question your decision of including the American remake (Point of no Return) of La Femme Nikita instead of the original.
The fact that you referenced Assassins and Stallone twice really just a complete lack of good movie/acting taste and general laziness.
This blog/site used to be decent but lately it’s just gotten lazy.
Kinda have to agree with “thelaughingman” the articles have just subpar as of late, I still visit the site but have noticed that I really don’t care for content as much…oh well.
Anyways I was going to mention Lisbeth Salander from “the girl with the dragon tattoo” although not really an assassin she’s still, IMO, beats out some of the people on this list.

Assassins is one of the worst movies ever, and regardles sof how good of an assassin Banderas was (Stallone killed him, so he wasn’t that great) that movie should be stricken from all lists that celebrate quality.

Mel Gibson’s character in Payback. Chow Yun Fat in The Killer, Hanna, Ichi the Killer, Ghost Dog, Machete, Geena Davis in The Long Kiss Goodnight…. how’s that for some suggestions?
Any of those are greater than Stallone and better movies that Assassins.

But Tamisaburo Wakayama’s portrayal of Itto Ogami, The Shogun Assassin, The Lone Wolf and Cub, has my vote for the baddest Assassin in Film.
What? The fact that you have Bridget Fonda from Point of No Return instead of Anne Parillaud from Nikita and no Cantonese films makes me think you are only watching American films. And even so… Assassins not once but twice? Just cause it’s named Assassins doesn’t mean their the best in movies. How about…

I did like Clive in the Bourne Identity, but he wasn’t really kick-ass was he? He managed to snipe one guy in the whole film, and frankly, got his world rocked by Bourne.
Chigurh probably deserves a spot as well, though nice job of thinking of Leon first and foremost. Also, thanks for not adding any of the characters from Wanted.

It was Bridget, not Jane Fonda. Unless Barbarella was an assassin. And it could just be the character not the actress who portrayed her he was referring to.
