The Silent Swan will be a Mysterious Journey Through Two Cities
The Silent Swan will be a serene new experience that could end up being a breath of fresh air from all the carnage that some games have today. The story centers around Mirov Kavrazyma trekking through a mystical realm known as “The Land Beyond the Walls.” His wife Selene mysteriously disappeared without much of a trace. The only clues that Mirov have are a collection of paper swans that have cryptic writing etched on their wings. Mirov sets off on a journey to find his beloved wife while using these swans as potential footprints that could lead to her whereabouts. Even though there are tons of games out there today that borrow this type of plot, the goal with this new title is to take immersion to a whole new level. That is going to be the main appeal for The Silent Swan and developer Studio Circenses are focused on crafting something that could inspire other open-world games for the next generation.
Yes, The Silent Swan is aiming to be a bonafide open-world game. A giant enigma that will be itching to be unraveled through the gumshoe instincts of the player. As a whole, this game will be held up in two main locations, the cities of Urzhum and Sernur. Evidently, a catastrophic event known as “The Fall” tore humankind down into ashes and civilization is now just a shadow of its former self. Even though the infrastructure is still intact, the population is hardly anywhere to be found. It will be a lonely adventure as Mirov pieces together the reason for Selene’s absence. However, this game will be threaded to compel the player to explore one area to the next while configuring the reason for Mirov’s travels. This game is obviously striving to be both an emotional and cerebral experience that is, quite frankly, pretty rare within gaming community genres.
Curious Coupled Cities
It is mentioned that both the cities of Sernur and Urzhum will be fully explorable. Everything that can be seen will be fully interactive and traversable. Given what the most recent trailer showed, these cities are rather immense in size. They are interconnected with fully walkable bridges that sometimes can be up as high as the clouds. Thus, players will be able to get around using the quicycles to help speed up their errands. These cities are laced with gothic architecture while being complemented by light steampunk undertones. This is a strange, yet alluring design that could entice the player to see what’s behind every door and what lurks within every building. Needless to say, there will be countless clues strewn all over the world for the player to digest. This will come in the form of environmental exposition to simple letters that will need to be read.
Of course, there will be other mysterious items that the player will garner throughout their journey. Theoretically, these items will be needed to solve certain puzzles and progress through the game. Most likely, The Silent Swan will be like a modern incarnation of the classic adventure games of the 90s. All of the hints, clues, and evidence that players will collect will feed upon themselves, creating a layered tapestry of lore that will slowly come to the light. The story of this game is meant to be cryptic. It’s up to the player to figure out where to go and what to find. There is an ominous mood to this game, hinting that something nefarious may be at foot. Players will need to rely on their gut on piecing together this mystery and that includes what kind of danger may be looming.
Muddled Messages
With that said, it is not currently noted that The Silent Swan will have any combat to speak of. The way everything seems from the trailer, this is looking like to be a straight-up walking simulator conjoined with solving puzzles and accumulating knowledge. Chances are that this game is trying to capture the same vibe as Myst or The Witness. Games such as these are an acquired tease, no doubt. Regardless, there is still a fairly healthy amount of players within the gaming community that does indeed enjoy games of that type. There, The Silent Swan is molding up to be a slow-paced, intimate, and brain-twisting affair for inquiring minds to indulge in. Although there aren’t a whole lot of details currently available on how exactly this game will play, the footage shown gives everyone a good insight into what to expect. Needless to say, the game is looking like it’s well-realized and the world appears to be well-crafted.
There is still much to unravel on what The Silent Swan is all about. The little footage that was shown in the trailer is enough to pique some interest. At the very least, it made some gamers curious about what this is about. This game will be played in the first-person view and there is no indication if players will be able to switch perspectives. The developers stipulated that this game will be fairly large in scope. Additionally, it will be teeming with information to soak in via exploring the environment. Other than that, the game is currently an enigma in itself. Hopefully, the developers will drop another trailer that will showcase all the gameplay mechanics on how exactly this IP will play. As of right now, there is very little to chew on and there is no telling what the developers may have up their sleeve.
Collectivism
The thing is that The Silent Swan could be a nice little indie gem if enough gamers give it a chance. Sometimes, a nice relaxing trek through an unknown realm is the palette cleanser that some players need. There is no release date available for this game, but it is slated to come out later this year. Hopefully, there will be new details on how this game will play in the near future. The Silent Swan will be available for PlayStation 5 and PC later this year.
