Why You Should Want a Spiderman Cake For Your Next Birthday

spiderman-cake

No, I’m not kidding, I’d like to have a Spiderman cake for my next birthday. Who cares if I’ll be turning 33 years old! My amazing mother makes what I would consider to be one of the best chocolate cakes in existence. As a child I never knew that “themed” cakes were even possible until I went to a friends birthday party when I was probably around 6 or 7 years old. I walked into his kitchen and discovered a Superman cake that seemed to take up the entire table. Needless to say I was immediately jealous that I was so completely unaware that such awesomeness even existed. Though, I still can’t recall ever asking my mom for a Spiderman cake. I wonder if I was actually that considerate enough as a kid to not demand such an artistic feat from my mother. That’s not to say that if I had asked for one she wouldn’t have done her damnedest to deliver the best looking super hero slab of deliciousness ever! (yes, my mom was that awesome)

Now that I’m married with 2 kids, one being a little boy the age of 2, I might try to influence my son to badger his mother into creating a Spiderman cake for his daddy’s next birthday! I can be selfish can’t I? I’m sure it can’t be that hard right? (insert loud audible of me laughing a lot) There’s the fondant stuff people use all the time now and those handy icing tubes you can buy at the local Meijer that help with the process. Throw in my mom’s chocolate cake recipe and I’d say that’s a winning combination! Plus, super heroes are all the rage now anyways so I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

So here’s a shout out to my wife and all the other fantastic moms out there – if your son (or husband ahem) would like a Spiderman cake for their birthday, I’ve compiled some excellent examples for you to use as inspiration! Have fun and don’t burn down the house.

The BEST Spiderman Cake

The Best Spiderman Cake

Can you believe this is an actual cake!? Obviously it’s done by a real professional cake connoisseur but it’s still incredibly impressive! I totally expect this for my birthday!

The Elegant Spiderman Cake

Spiderman Cake Classy

Ignoring the number 4 on this cake, I love how simple and elegant it is. Realistically it’s probably what I should be expecting for my next birthday.

The Classic Spiderman Cake

Classic Spiderman Cake

While the icing looks a little rough – I can’t deny that this one design tugs at the fond memories of Spidey.

Honorable Mention Spiderman Cakes

Spiderman Cake Bust

It might be missing a few fondant spots here and there, but this is some fantastic homemade craftsmanship.

Spiderman Swinging Cake

I would’ve gone without the “odd” looking webbing towards the top of this one … but that’s just me.

Spiderman Villain Cakes

Spiderman Green Goblin Cake

Some fantastic edible paint work here.

Spiderman Venom Cake

This is freaking cool. Though I would’ve appreciated some more slime/drool coming from his tongue and mouth if we’re going for accuracy here.

Spiderman Cakes Created Just For Me?

Apparently someone secretly made cakes for my 4th, 5th and 8th birthdays! I’m sorry that I never knew this until now. Thank you very much you awesome anonymous person/people out there that created these cakes just for me.
