This link landed in my mailbox this weekend, and it’s rare to feature an entire other site, but this one is definitely worthwhile. It’s called NESmaps.com, and that name is pretty self explanatory.
The whole site’s purpose is to sell posters based on the maps of old NES games. The can be world maps, like in Dragon Warrior, or level maps, like in Mega Man. Picking up one of these for your place would increase your geek level by a few points for sure. I’ve got my eye on the Mario Kart one myself.
Visit the site and see if any catch your attention. You know, I’d love for them to do this for newer games as well like Oblivion or Just Cause 2.
I immediately thought of this one.

This is how goddamn nerdy I am: I once made a hand-drawn version of that map for a pen-and-paper RPG I created based on FFII (now known as FFIV). Something like that site would’ve saved me a lot of time and work.
I immediately thought of Civ maps that could be made from these.
