The Penalty for Screen Peeking

Local multiplayer in games barely exists anymore, but those of us old school enough to remember when “screen peeking” was the greatest sin you could perpetrate in a game will appreciate this picture.

But in reality, everyone knew that screen peeking was a part of the game, and you should change your play style accordingly. It actually resulted in much more strategic play, as knowing where your opponent was and what weapons they had allowed you to develop strategies to counter. Nowadays, you are constantly blindsided by enemies whose screens are safe from peaking over in Korea or Germany, which is often times far less fun.
