Classic Arcade Games That You Can Play in 2017

Seeing as Super Mario Run reacquainted us with one of gaming’s all-time greats at the end of last year, it seems like a good time to catch up with some other arcade classics that have been faithfully restored for the smartphone era.

Platform games

Old-school Sega fans will be especially keen to see that their favorite blue hedgehog is poised to make a big comeback in 2017. This is because a game that’s rumored to be called Sonic Mania is expected to land on PS4, Xbox One, PC and even Nintendo Switch later this year. Thankfully it looks like it’s going to stay true to the original by being a fast-paced two dimensional treat – but with the introduction of a new character, there’s plenty to look forward to!

Racing games

If standard platformers aren’t your thing, then there’s nothing like a good racing game to reintroduce you to the thrill of arcade gaming. And thankfully the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4 looks to deliver one of the best racing games yet. This is much like the classic PlayStation game, but with incredible HDR graphics and lessons learned from last year’s troubled release, it could be on course for being the best racing game ever.

Slot games

It’s not just platformers and racing games that have dominated the arcades of course. This is because slots games are some of our most cherished arcade genres. And luckily for us, there are a variety of online casinos that have enabled us to pick a slot at random from their huge range of titles to be on our way to quick and easy gaming, with some spectacular results.

Fighting games

We can all look forward to another blast from the past in 2017 when Tekken makes its overdue comeback from the arcades to our consoles and PCs on 2 June. This hugely influential fighting game has already sold over 42 million units on previous releases, and so expectations are high that Bandai Namco can once again deliver the goods. In particular it’s the way that Tekken 7 comes with downloadable content and could be optimized for eSports that’s most exciting for gamers.

Shooting games

And finally, just to show that it’s not just casino games that will be dominating our smartphones, there’s also an intriguing shooting game console called Sure Shot HD on its way. This Android-based console enables you to turn your TV into a shooting range, and when teamed up with the Big Buck Hunter Pro, will prove just how versatile our smartphones have become!
