Unreal TV Review: Nip/Tuck’s “Lola Wlodkowski”

NipTuck

I can’t believe that I’ve only gotten around to watching Nip/Tuck for the last 3 weeks.  I apologize to the readers for not being able to speak bluntly about the last 87 episodes but better late than never right?

I just want to point out how amazing a network F/X is becoming.  After 10 PM this network is completely dynamite.  It’s essentially a watered down version of Sunday nights on HBO and Showtime.  But I tell ya they’re getting pretty damned close with the nudity and cursing.

You gotta love what these guys are doing and the bold steps they take.  P.S. I think Archer is going to become one of the best cartoon shows of all time.  Have you seen the promos for this show and the sneak preview a month back?  Wow it’s funny.

OK on to Nip Tuck

Christian

Did I point out how awesome the cursing and sex was on this show?  Boy did they take it to new heights last night.  Christian as his usual self has sex with someone, only this time it’s a confident fat woman who’s sexual advances he eventually succumbs to (thus providing him with the best orgasm he ever has).  What struck me so great about this episode is how Christian is clearly one of those characters that the smart side of you knows you should hate but every other side of you loves the guy.  I equate him to Dexter and Gregory House.  Clearly these guys do many wrong things and yet deep down you know they are good souls.  Christian calls the woman a “fat whale” and “hippo” in one scene and is consoling her about cancer in the very next.  He respects Kimber when she confronts him about their relationship in one scene and then he tells her to brush her teeth and clean up right after (she pukes).  It’s truly incredible.  Plus you know that Christian is a smart guy that understands the way the world works which makes it even harder to hate him despite his fornication and sickly ways.

Sean

And then you have the amazing dichotomy within this episode because at the same time Christian is dealing with an overweight woman who is fine with herself, Sean is dealing with a perfect woman who can’t stand that she has nipples?  This woman and her man want to be replicas of Ken and Barbie.  We later find out that her man is gay and that it was obvious all along.  But that’s not the point here.

The focal point of the episode was sex (as it usually is on this show) but the show explored it from numerous angles and I think they were pointing out that all humans have a need for contact and the ways in which is comes through are numerous.  Whether someone is fat, thin, drunk, or pukes up their food, we all do what we can to get “hot.”

Christian is left feeling like shit after his fat girl wants to stay fat and Sean succumbs to his sexual desires by luring Barbie into his clutches.  She too realizes that there’s more to life than being a doll and that she too needs personal contact.  They of course bang on the surgery table.

How does it end?  Awesomely of course as Sean’s patient winds up at Christian’s doing God knows what with Kimber and his patient.  Sean of course realizes he needs sex and winds up with the hooker that Christian bought him to introduce the episode.

Kimber

This show absolutely rules and P.S. I think Kimber might be my new favorite hottie on Television.  Good God what a body.

  1. You wrote a review? Whoaaaaa.

I’d read it, but I always end up waiting until like five days later to actually get around to watching Nip/Tuck. I’m kind of glad it’s the last season. They’ve exhausted just about every fucked up thing a human being can experience.

  2. I stuck with Nip/Tuck til the end of Season 5 Part 1. By then everything just got way too over the top for me. I can take some big pills but I reached a breaking point with Sean’s stalker.

  3. You MUST get a hold of the earlier seasons of this show…it’s always been awesome!I’m jealous the second part of this season isn’t here in Canada yet so I enjoy the reviews =)

  4. i have to agree that this show has exhausted everything… the first 3 or 4 seasons are amazing. since season 5, it’s just been “meh”… they used to have a bunch of really messed up consults which were the bread and butter of the show… now, it’s too infrequent and just not shocking anymore.

i will still watch the show til the end as i’ve invested so much time into it. i just miss the first seasons.

  5. I love nip/tuck. This episode had its good points. But tbh overall i think it seemed akward and out of place. The pacing was terrible… The fat chick was unbelievable and her having cancer was so abrupt and just felt odd.
