Sony’s Kevin Butler Tricked Into Tweeting the PS3 Security Key

This was too funny to pass up, though I suppose I’m risking death threats from Sony’s lawyers by posting it. This screenshot is of Kevin Butler’s Twitter, you know, the guy who does all the actually pretty funny PS3 commercials?

Someone tweeted him the security key for the PS3 that Sony has been scrambling to erase from the internet, and apparently no one filled him in on the crisis, as he actually @replies to the person, and retweets the key for all to see. It’s since been deleted, but clearly they need to circulate a few memos around Sony headquarters.

This is hilarious because Sony’s lawyers are now hunting down anyone who posts the key, including websites, which uhhh hmm, OK well view this image before they haul me off to court I guess. To be fair, I’m terrible at hacking as my science skill is at like a three on the Fallout scale, so I wouldn’t even know what to do with this, nor do I want my non-existent PS3 to run Linux.

  1. Yeah, I’m sure their crack team of whoever will be able to erase the key from the internet, because we all remember what a splendid job the guys with the HDDVD key did- oh wait a minute, 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0.
