The Softer Side of Bane

Various plot nitpicks aside, I think most of us can agree at this point that Tom Hardy’s performance as Bane was pretty fantastic in The Dark Knight Rises, especially considering the huge shoes he had to fill in the form of Ledger’s Joker.

Above, we get to see a bit of his softer side as he canoodles with Gary Oldman at a press event. Oldman is in full Commissioner Gordon mode, and the look on his face is priceless. Internally he’s probably somewhere between “F*** off ,Tom” and “I’d really like a BLT right now.”

I’m guessing it’s at an event for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, that would explain all three of them together.
When I saw this headline in my rss feed I was sure it would be the video of hardy rapping while holding his baby in a baby bjorn all while his kid holds onto his thumbs. Look it up, it’s adorable.

  2. I found his performance to be pretty vanilla. To me, he wasn’t especially menacing or evil or anything. He was just “the bad guy.” Of course the voice was just ridiculous and distracting. Ledger was light years better as the Joker. In fact, other than Marion Cotilliard, I though Hardy’s perormance as Bane was the weakest of the bunch. And in the end he is just summarily dispatched deus ex machina style by a blast from Selina Kyle. No last words, even. He is not a memorable villain.
