The Cast of Star Wars. All of Them.

I’m not sure which magazine cover this was for, but it took a hell of a lot of work to get all these legends in one room. It’s nearly every major cast member from all six films, all in one place. At least I assume this wasn’t photoshopped, other than the obvious Yoda, Jar Jar and Grievous additions.

I love how A) George Lucas assigned Natalie Portman to be the one draped over him and B) How Mark Hamill, you know, Luke Skywalker, is shoved in the bottom corner while front and center are Jimmy Smits and Jar Jar Binks. Priorities man, priorities. And Anakin’s mom got a pass to be there? She was in what, like three scenes? I’m surprised Boba or Jango Fett didn’t make it in here.

Still, love or hate the series this days, this is a pretty awesome picture.

  1. I sure hope it’s all photoshopped. I can’t stand the thought of Luke Skywalker at the very bottom corner smelling Solo’s and Chewbacca’s feet. Everyone on that picture should have known better than to put him on that spot.

  2. It’s a great idea, but the execution here is horrible. If they’re going to photoshop people in, why not put in Alec Guinness or Peter Cushing? Or at least Boba Fett, who is infinitely more iconic than Jar-Jar Binks. Why the hell is Jar-Jar the center of the photo anyway?

I would have preferred to see just human cast members, including guys like Frank Oz, James Earl Jones, and Jeremy Bulloch.

  3. Instead of Vader, I think it would have been cool to have the three actors who played Vader in the picture. OK, I admit it, I just wanted to see James Earl Jones in this picture. Admit it, you all do, too.

  4. I hate to torture a meme, but this is an epic, epic fail.

They mixed the cast in with the characters. Why have Jar Jar Binks instead of the guy(s) who played him? Take off the costumes and show the actors.

Alec Guinness and Sebastian Shaw should be in there, perhaps in ghost-Jedi form. Something.

It should go left to right, original trilogy, new sucky trilogy.

    Could’ve been much cooler. /shrug

  5. To those complaining about Jar Jar, look at him and Yoda. Not one piece of them is hidden behind another character. They took the photo and then the CGI guys had to find the quickest and cheapest way to get those two in the photo, and that is exactly what they did.

  6. Anyone complaining about this pic must not have the blu-ray set (or looked inside of it). Lucas has done this with the actors/characters before. Oh, and I don’t own it either.

  7. Jar Jar is actually pretty iconic and important even if he is the most hated character, he was the first truly all digital actor the interacted with live actors, which is a pretty big deal. I am sadden that james earl jones wasn’t in this but not everything can be perfect.

  8. This was the February 2005 Vanity Fair cover prior to the release of Revenge of the Sith. I actually just threw this issue out about a month ago.

  9. They couldn’t let Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew out of their costumes? It’s not like the “real actors” are wearing theirs… and who is wearing the Darth Vader costume? David Prowse?
