Five Solid TV Shows and Movies Turned into Games

Of all the modern art forms, none have quite as strong an influence on popular culture as TV shows and movies – one only has to look at the huge global attention that awards ceremonies like the Oscars attract. And, as the programs and movies have become bigger and bigger, they have increasingly reached out into whole new areas as they have sought to exploit their franchises so that today the merchandising attached to a successful title has become a valuable revenue stream in itself. Maybe the biggest example of this is the Star Wars franchise for which Disney, its current owners, have used their considerable experience in producing merchandise to go alongside. Films and shows also lend themselves naturally to becoming video games and even slot games in casinos.

Here are five different examples that have become big successes:

The Walking Dead – First Person Shooter

Everybody’s favorite story about the zombie apocalypse lends itself to a first person-style game that has a developing plot as you work round the town encountering different characters – some friendly, some less so. The game not only looks back to the TV series but also to the comic books that inspired it and, for this authenticity, it’s been exceptionally well received, picking up a huge number of awards along the way.

The Fantastic Four – Slot Game

Movies themes are a great way to engage with your audience and Marvel Comics have proved to be real experts in making the transition from movies to games.  In one example, the case of the Fantastic Four slot game featured all the movie’s favorite characters and more.  The game features all four characters in a battle to save the world and offers a whole host of features including free spins, bonus rounds and multipliers to help you win some truly heroic prizes.  And it’s not just Fantastic Four hitting the casinos.  Nearly all popular movies and TV show will at some point show up on the gaming floor.

The Simpsons – Video Game

If you’ve ever wanted to live in Springfield and get embroiled in a Simpson’s episode this could be your chance. You can play as any of four members of the family – Maggie’s the exception. It’s divided into sixteen levels that approximately relate to a specific Simpsons episode and within them you’ll come across all your favorite characters from Krusty the Clown to Flanders and family.

Lego Jurassic World

There’s a dinosaur-sized mash-up in Lego Jurassic World which was launched in June 2015 to coincide with the release of the re-booted series although it takes its influences from all four of the films. These are divided into 20 levels, five relating to each film. It’s as educational as it’s exciting with lots of puzzles to solve and even new breeds of dinosaurs to create.

007 Legends

Who hasn’t wanted to be the arch spy James Bond at some time? Well here’s your chance which draws its influence from six of the films and which was released in 2012 to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the franchise. In the game you can take on Goldfinger as well as numerous other arch enemies in adventures that take you all round the world.

Of course, these five are just the tip of the iceberg and there are thousands of other titles to choose from. So whether it’s sci-fi or horror, westerns or fantasy films that you really love, there’s sure to be a game out there to match.
