Early Concept Art of Famous Movie Characters
Is it me or does Shrek kind of look like Slimer from Ghostbusters in this picture? But you see that’s the stuff we rarely see. We have no clue what the creators of certain characters originally envision. We never know that a fat character may have started off skinny. That a sad character started off happy.
It’s those little rough edges that have to be either taken off or added on for us to see the finished product. But I wonder if some of these original sketches were better off? You be the judge. Personally I think most of the final decisions were correct.

Thanks to Screencrush for these awesome shots
Yoda was going to be a Christmas Gnome?
I gotta say, the early version of the Mad Hatter looks fantastic.
Is that a Nic Cage whiplash?
Early Azrael looks 10x as awesome as what we got.
Also, a ton of those look almost identical to what we got, so I would have avoided putting those in. Whiplash, The queen from Snow White, The caterpillar, and the grasshopper. Beast looks really close, too.
Shrek looks crazy because he was modeled after (and supposed to be voiced by) Chris Farley. Then he took a little too many narcotics :_ [
damn it, chris. just damn it…
it looks like the concept of Shrek was to go full retard…
I love the Mad Hatter original.
Everyone gets shrek wrong, you all know his story is originally a children’s book (written by William Steig) yes?
