Five Video Games We’re Looking forward to in 2017

Last year a slew of amazing game titles were released, pleasing gamers of all types. The great news is that 2017 looks even more promising, with games coming from major developers as well as indie outfits that are known to impress. It’s difficult to pick just five titles for this list, and to make it easier no unconfirmed games or remastered editions have been included. Here are five highly anticipated videos games that you’ll want to get your hands on this year.

1. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Release date: January 24, 2017

This long running franchise will continue with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It’s true that some parts of Resident Evil 6 and the spin-offs that followed were forgettable — many gamers would even say those moments were regrettable. However, RE7 looks like it’s going back to the roots of the series and will bring some major surprises along the way. If you were starting to miss the striking horror angle that earlier installations of the franchise had, you’ll definitely want to check out this game. Not only do the graphics look amazing, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be a first person title that you can play in VR.

2. Halo Wars 2 – Release date: February 21, 2017

To say that this is a highly anticipated game is certainly an understatement. Fans of the first Halo Wars game have been waiting a long eight years to get a sequel, and it’s finally happening in February 2017. The original was well regarded, is still being played widely, and opened up an opportunity for the Halo franchise to grow by leaps and bounds. This time, Halo Wars is going to be even bigger and it will also be released on PC. The storyline will take place nearly 30 years after Halo Wars and right after everything that happened in Halo 5: Guardians. Previews of Halo Wars 2 at least year’s E3 showed great promise, amazing graphics, and enticing play.

3. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands – Release date: March 7, 2017

Ghost Recon 2 and its expansion Summit Strike were both excellent games that fans are still re-playing today, and each did wonders for the Tom Clancy franchise. Next came Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, an advanced warfighter title, and now we have Ghost Recon: Wildlands coming up in 2017. If you enjoyed Far Cry and its open world style of play, you’re really going to enjoy this title. Ghost Recon: Wildlands will allow players to go through missions however they want to, offering control like never before. There weren’t a ton of standout co-op shooters last year, but this game just may set the standard going forward.

4. Mass Effect: Andromeda – Release date: March 21, 2017

The shooter mechanics and gameplay of the Mass Effect series has only gotten better throughout the years, although none of the titles have been able to top the original’s character driven storyline. Those who’ve been wishing that one day BioWare would put out a Mass Effect with the genius plot of the first installation and the technological advancements we’ve seen most recently should be thrilled to play Mass Effect: Andromeda. The story in this game will feature brand new characters and a new angle, and by all accounts the ending won’t be a disappointment like the one in Mass Effect 3. Another plus is that the latest title will have better multiplayer, a new starship, and an open-world. Be prepared for this to be one of the most talked about video games 2017.

5. Injustice 2 – Release date: May 16, 2017

Injustice: Gods Among Us was an awesome game with great characters, fantastic moves, and a highly interactive environment. The sequel coming out in May 2017 is set to build on the success of the original and it’s also going to have an RPG element. Whether you’re a DC Comics fan or not, this fighting game is going to be one of the biggest must-see titles of the year. And if you happen to bee a DC fan, you won’t want to miss the huge roster of characters that will be featured in Injustice 2
