10 Celebrities Making Appearances Video Games

It’s always fun to see something out of the ordinary when you’re playing a video game.    Most times it comes in the forms of funny songs or a game glitch you didn’t expect.   And sometimes the game will toss in a celebrity which might throw you off (meaning a good thing).

But here I wanted to focus on celebrities who appeared in games that weren’t so obvious.  Games that didn’t really have a celebrity focus yet a celebrity appeared in that seemed almost random.

Here are 10 that I enjoyed the most….

Snoop Dogg

Appears in True Crime Streets in LA and Def Jam:  Fight for NY.  How this guy isn’t in Grand Theft Auto is beyond me.   Yes it’s a gangster stereotype but come on.   Don’t you think at some point he should have been sitting smoking a J on a corner somewhere?

Ozzy Osbourne

Appears in Brutal Legends and Guitar Hero: World Tour.  I think it’s safe to say I like Ozzy in just about anything let alone a video game.

Sonja Kinski

Appears in Left 4 Dead. Sonja’s not a mega celebrity but she’s extremely gorgeous.  So it’s nice to see her in a real game that has nothing to do with celebrities or being gorgeous.

Vin Diesel

Appears in Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and Wheelman.  See?  At least it’s not just Riddick.  He made it to another game.   I’m surprised they haven’t made an XXX game yet.

Gary Coleman

Appears in Postal 2.   It’s a shame that Coleman has passed away because I would have loved seeing him in more game.

How is Vin Diesel not obvious for Riddick. He played the character in the movies…
Also Jason Lee was a skater long before he was an actor.

  • Jeff

Agreed Alex. A lot of these make sense, but the title doesn’t.

  • Alex

Burt Reynolds in Saints Row 3!

  • Guy Incognitus

So, focusing on celebrities that appear in games where it isn’t obvious they’d appear, you picked Vin Diesel, who was Riddick in the movies and Bruce Lee appearing in two games named after him. Wouldn’t it be more surprising if those celebrities weren’t in those games?

And you forgot the “perfect” woman: Yvonne Strahovski, in Mass Effect 2! 🙂

  • Paul S.

    @SilentJee I second that motion

It was cool to see Jean Reno in Onimusha 3…though I don’t know if that was for marketing purposes or just to allow him to be a bad-ass in a virtual world. Still awesome.

I guess everyone here forgot “Armageddon” with Bruce Willis. 1998-ish, Playstation. You played the game AS BRUCE WILLIS. Not as John Mclane, AS BRUCE WILLIS!! YIPPIE-KI-YAY MOTHAFUCKAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

  • Jim Lahey

Jason Lee was one of the very first professional skateboarders before he became an actor, so it makes tons of sense to have him in Skate.

  • LOL at first I read PORTAL 2. Gary Coleman in Portal 2? WTF How did I miss him? Where???

  • Nicholas

Buffy and George Remero in Call of Duty Black Ops

  • Brian

Bill Clinton. NBA Jam for SNES.

  • Kevin

Tony Hawk in most skateboarding games.

  • Kev

This is super esoteric but there used to be a game based off of the Goosebumps series for the PC called “Escape from Horrorland”. Cheesy point-and-click game back when Myst was still fresh. But the absolute best part was seeing Jeff Goldblum as Dracula.

There was also KISS in Tony Hawk Underground.

  • Alaric

Stan Lee appeared in MUA2, and I think his character’s name was actually his own real name too.

  • Nits

Dennis Hopper in Black Dahlia (Point-and-click adventure)

  • Jacqueline Hart Fallows

one that the original list missed: Sam Witwer of Being Human(US), Battlestar Galactica, and Dark Angel.
He is the face and voice of Starkiller from Force Unleashed.

  • bakakurisu

How about Seth Green, Martin Sheen, and Carrie Ann Moss in Mass Effect 2?

  • Artgineer

David Bowie in Omikrom : the nomad soul? There are probably celebrities in Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain too.

  • Bryan

Jason Lee was in Tony Hawk’s Project 8 before he was in Skate 3.

  • Liam Hayes Longinus Regan

I absolutely agree Alex. Burt Reynolds in Saints Row 3 is the best celebrity cameo I’ve seen in any medium, let alone games, followed closely by his cameo in Archer. Now, I don’t have a man-crush on Burt, I’ve never even seen any of the movies he’s been in, but both of those cameos were completely out of left field and absolutely f*cking amazing. He has solidified his crown as biggest BAMF out there.

  • MSusanoo

Michael Jackson, Shaquille O’neal, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton on Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 haha

  • leon

Stana Katic plays Talia Al Ghul in Arkham City

  • The Ice Empress

Bruce Lee IS in every matial arts video game in existence. Just under pseudonyms like Marshall/Forest Law, Fei Long, Jann Lee, Maxi, etc.
