Appropriating the Muppets for Personal Glory

So I think I’m late to the party on this one, but I hadn’t seen this amazing video of a homeless man singing “Under Pressure” using two Kermit the frog puppets until right now. Yes, you heard that right.

Most homeless people are content to stand with a sign looking hot or sad (a hard job by itself), but this father went the extra mile to develop and act that’s worthy of America’s Got Talent. Problem is since he doesn’t own the rights to the puppets OR the song, he can’t exactly take his show on the road. Well, it is on the road, but you get what I mean.

Just watch it. If you haven’t seen it, it’s amazing. If you have, it’s still amazing. Jim Henson would be proud.

  1. I would happily give this guy a couple bucks, and not feel it was charity, because it’s entertainment.

I give a lot to the guys with the signs. Where I live we have lots of them. Some of them make pretty good money, like a lot more than I do, but I still give because I figure for the ten who don’t really need it, the one who does, probably REALLY does.

But this was neat. Of course, he could always create his own puppets if he wanted to try something professional. The music is another matter, but the puppets could have been any decent looking puppets.

  2. You’re not late to the party you stopped to get some beer and got knocked into a coma and then woke up a few years later and showed up with the skunk beer from the trunk.

  3. No big deal if you’re late to the party but what’s sad is that you haven’t read the description of the video. He is not homeless but he is raising awareness and help for the homeless.

“This is a performance meant to entertain and inspire.

    If you want to help…

As I said this is a performance. I don’t want there to be any doubts about my situation. I am a performer. I have a roof over my head and I have yet to start my own family. But this video isn’t about me. This is for the men, women and children on our streets who don’t have bright green puppets on their hands. The people who aren’t always as easy to see. This is for you.”

  4. Sorry Paul, he isn’t homeless. He made the video to raise awareness about the homeless. You can find interviews with him online. Great guy, worthy cause.
