This Week in Movie Trailers!

Hey folks! Welcome to a post-spooky edition of This Week in Movie Trailers!

Did everyone have a good Halloween? Did you dress up as a sexy librarian? What about a Viking costume made entirely out of cardboard beer boxes? Or how about an Internet Meme? Bane?!?

Anyway, focus! We have a movie article to get on with!

We certainly have at least one big release this week, which stars the dreamy Patrick Stewart. So let’s get to it!

LEGO: The Movie

Hey, who doesn’t like LEGO? I grew up on the stuff myself and this movie seems to capture, at least visually, the essence of it. Speaking of the visuals, I absolutely LOVE the fact that they made it look like actual stop motion with actual LEGO. Good on them! Not sure about the jokes and humor yet, but I definitely want to check this out.

The Quiet Ones

Hmm, not too sure about this one. I’m one of those people who loves horror movies but doesn’t find the ones with ghost-children scary; I just can’t take them as serious threat. Anyway, I’m not sure if this movie falls in that category–since what was revealed was pretty vague–but it kind of seems like it. I guess I’ll have to wait for a full trailer before making further judgment.

Labor Day

Stockholm syndrome is living the dream in this trailer, folks! Seems like a good cast and probably has some great performances; however, I’m too afraid that I will fall in love with this movie if it kidnaps me and I might never want to leave!

Mr. Peabody & Sherman

Ugh, well every single joke in this trailer fell flat.  I don’t even think children would have found them funny to children. Also, does anyone else think the voice of Peabody just seemed a little … off? I guess he is a talking dog. I never did see the cartoon which the movie is based off, but I do remember commercials for the show and not having the slightest of interest in it as a boy. Anyway, let’s move on!

Police Story

What an oddly edited trailer!

I guess this is a reboot of the 1985 movie, which also starred Jackie Chan? You don’t see that too often but I think it’s rather impressive that the man can star in the same action role as he did 28 years ago. That’s a long time for someone to age and a long time for someone to have a lot of wear on their body. But this is Jackie Chan we’re talking about, so it’s not very surprising; that man can do anything. This film probably won’t be hitting my theatres (or maybe it will get a North American release?), but I do want to see this!

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Well, here’s the biggy for the week! After watching this trailer, I decided to check out the comment sections of several movie websites and unsurprisingly a ton of people were complaining about how there was no action, that it looks boring,  and Hugh Jackman is a crappy Wolverine because he’s not short, he’s too sexy, and doesn’t wear a mask, blah blah blah. Chill out, nerds! (Disclaimer: I am a nerd). This movie looks great, in my opinion. The franchise really needed a refreshing boost and it looks like this one will be epic enough to do so. It will also be interesting to see where they take X-Men after this. Maybe the moon?!

What are you looking forward to the most?

  1. The people that think the X-Men trailer is boring are the same people that think the Xbox only has Call of Duty and that Michael Bay is the only good action film director. While I was very surprised they went with such a somber tone, I’m really glad that they did. It’s something different and not just another over-the-top action spectacle.

I’m really excited to see Bryan Singer using the cast of First Class(which was one of my favorite X-Men casts) in a way that really seems to not just raise the stakes without it being all explosions and over-the-top set pieces, but also seems more personal and character focused.

I normally try not to get too excited for movies but for Days of Future Past I’m cautiously optimistic.
