The Dark Knight Legacy

Nolan’s Batman trilogy is over, and Affleck and Snyder are taking over the next iteration. That obviously means that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Thomas Blake/Robin/New Batman/Nightwing will never get to take up the mantle he was left at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, and it’s up to fans to imagine what that might look like.

Above is the first part of a fan film set in the Nolanverse with Blake returning as Nightwing. I was a little confused at first as to why he showed up and started murdering everyone, but then I realized it was the  new antagonist instead, merely pretending to be Batman. I think it’s supposed to be Deathstroke, though there’s a bit of Deadpool and Black Mask in there too.

This is really well done, and I’m curious to see more. Problem is, to see more, they need to raise $30,000. Whoops! Anyway, if that sounds good to you, donate here.

  1. Isn’t it the Red Hood?

Either way – well put together production for a fan film. (mic could be better for the villain … talking through the mask really muffled his voice)

  2. Eh, they got some decent-looking stuff onscreen, but that self-serious tone that a lot of these things (Batman stuff in particular, but by no means exclusively) are shot in has gotten oppressive to me.

  3. It’s the Red hood. Love his mask in this short.

Also, good vilain, spoilers who is behind the mask. If you want to know more, the best thing to do is watch Batman: Under the Red Hood – amazing DC animated movie.

  4. Dzuksi is completely right with watch Batman: Under the Red Hood. It really is an amazing animated film. But this fan film plays off if it fairly well. I especially like how the Red Hood ‘s voice even sounds similar.

  5. Lucas: “mic could be better for the villain … talking through the mask really muffled his voice”.

Bane: “mmph mmph er mmph oooins mmph permission to die”.
