Nolan, Jolie, and Others Join in Fascinating Directors’ Roundtable

It’s almost Christmas! It’s that wondrous time of year when the film community gets up in arms over the Oscar nomination process, and maybe a bunch of other awards, too. Some of those awards have already been going to members of this roundtable discussion hosted by The Hollywood Reporter.

The full cast: Richard Linklater, Angelina Jolie, Mike Leigh, Christopher Nolan, Morten Tyldum, and Bennett Miller. Not bad.

The discussion should fascinate most of you. Among other things, we get to hear Jolie’s feelings on stepping up to the big leagues, what Nolan’s reputation in Iceland is like these days, and what Linklater’s feelings are on directing the same movie for twelve years. The best moments may be when the directors start asking questions of each other. These are some smart folks, and they’re very good at what they do.

That probably means we should listen, don’t you think?

  1. Didn’t watched it but rather listen to it while at work and it was fascinating!
Really loved how the discussion just started between them and diverged on a variety of subjects.
It really showed me what is a Director job, I just had a vague idea before.
Now I must watch the Actors edition!
