Brett Ratner Picking Up Graphic Novel Movie Scraps

I’m not illiterate when it comes to comic books, but I have to say I’m having a tough time remembering just what the hell “Youngblood” is about. Well, someone does, and that someone is Brett Ratner, who is taking the graphic novel and turning it into his very own revenue stream:

“Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and Youngblood is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential. It was a real personal passion project for me, and a lot of people wanted [it], but the amazing thing about the guys at Reliance is the speed with which they’re able to move.”

Did Brett Ratner just say that he’s doing Youngblood because all the other good graphic novels are taken already? Wow, way to aim for the stars buddy. And seriously, Youngblood? I’m still trying exceptionally hard to place this, even after looking at that picture. You would think a guy with green fire for a head would stand out in your mind, but nope, not so much.

I predict Oscars all around.
