This is a gallery of excellent work from Christian Waggoner, which is a series of photorealistic painting depicting various characters in the Star Wars universe. The man is a professional painter (clearly) who turned from typical art to Star Wars in 2007. I’ve posted his takes on Greedo, Vader and a Stormtrooper after the jump, and be sure to look for the reflections.
“I love reflections,” he says. “I mean, if you crop one of my paintings, it can be abstract, it can be surreal, it’s a play of light, a play of values, how things get distorted. You can just play around with so much. I’m now trying to take the art to see more hidden things in the reflections that people will catch.” - Chris Waggoner

Take a gander at this collection of screenshots allegedly from Halo Reach, at least until Bungie yells at me to take them down. They feature a bunch of new-ish guns for the uber-secret game, which appears to be what I would imagine Halo 4 would look like. But if that’s the case, why would they not just be calling it that? Also, the game is supposed to be using a new engine, for whatever reason, and it shows. If these are fake, they’re pretty damn well forged, I’ll say that much.
Check out the rest of the pictures below, while you still can.

I’m tempted to make this Badass Picture of the Century, and it marks the second time Carrie Fisher has made this (sometimes) weekly feature. What you’re looking at is Fisher and her stunt double taking nap under the Tatooine sun(s) in between shots on the set of “Jedi.” I’m pretty sure I’ve had this dream more than once.

Let’s face it guys. Eagles are badass no matter which way you cut it. And I don’t care how staged this picture is. When you’ve got an eagle not only behaving like that but go as far as to put a knife in its mouth? It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Well maybe it could if you like put a chainsaw in a Polar Bear’s mouth or something. But as far as real badass goes, this is about as good as you can do.

Some rather clever movie/TV/video game/comics fan crafted together this character alignment chart that I mostly agree with, except I’m not sure how Indiana Jones isn’t in the “good” column. Everything else is spot on though. I’ve always wondered how exactly to classify Tyler Durden, and “Chaotic Neutral” is as good a descriptor as any.
If you like this, then you should enjoy its sequel the Nintendo character alignment chart.

There was something sort of interesting about NES box art. Because the graphics for Nintendo games were, relatively speaking, short of breathtaking, the box art would have to be that much more appealing. Sometimes the box art would looks completely different than the game’s graphics (like for Mega Man) and other times, would take the overall visual themes of the game and turn them into a pretty cool piece of artwork (like for Contra).
Box art for games today is a bit more refined, but what if the box art was presented in the retro style of an NES game? Some creative people have created some box art for modern games, and the result is pretty cool. Gamespy had shown a bunch of these creations in the past, so I tried my best to find examples separate from those. Enjoy the gallery after the jump.
Thanks to slashgamers and vgboxart for many of these images.

It’s not every day someone writes a note to a car thief which contains not one, but two video game references. I’m not sure if the sorts of people who steal cars know what an Ocarina is, or who Gordon Freeman is, but the “crowbar to the face” message is certainly loud and clear, though it would be kind of a pain to actually camp behind a bunch of crates and wait for the car thief to come back and read your note.

Well Halloween has come and gone, and I had a great time, even though no one knew who the hell I was (but thank you citizens of the internet for your reassurance). On Saturday night, I had the best seat in any bar in Ann Arbor, as I got to watch an endless parade of costumed college kids waiting in line outside the giant glass window by my group’s table. Yes, I was flashed more than once.
This gallery of pictures are not ones I specifically took, but I did see practically all of these at one point or another. They’re costumes that more than likely only exist because of something pop culture related that happened in 2009, be it based on movies, TV or celebrities.
Check out the gallery below, and if you or your friends can beat any of these, send your own pictures to me: paul@unrealitymag.com
