Philip Seymour Hoffman Died Yesterday at 46

You all know what happened by now. Philip Seymour Hoffman died yesterday at 46 of a heroin overdose. He was sober for 22 years before relapsing last year, and leaves behind three kids and a longtime partner.

It’s a huge loss for the creative community, and I honestly can’t remember another actor who died this prematurely with this kind of body of work, from Capote to The Master to Charlie Wilson’s War to Doubt to roles in The Big Lebowski, Boogie Nights and many, many, many, many more.

It’s sad, and frustrating, and I don’t have the authority to say much more past that. I just wish this would stop happening, but it won’t, unfortunately.

It’s such a huge loss to the creative community. His talent exceeded expectations with every film he was in. Just sad all around. My brother-in-law texted me “did you hear about PS Hoffman?” and I didn’t even want to look it up … terrible. :(

It was a shock this morning when I heard the news. So very sad to lose such talent yet again to drugs!

I always saw a movie with hoffman in it, even if it had mixed reviews. The guy was such a wonderful actor…
