New Star Trek Trailer Convinces Me Benedict Cumberbatch Should be the Bad Guy in Everything
I believe I linked to this yesterday in the Final Countdown, but I wanted to spotlight this new international Star Trek Into the Darkness trailer here as well because I think it’s really damn good. It focuses less on random cuts of the cast and explosions, and more on what the actual story could be about. It revolves around Benedict Cumberbatch as a rogue Starfleet officer, and from what I can tell, he’s going to be one hell of a villain.
I know we’ve grown to love him as Sherlock, and in other roles as he’s cropped up everywhere recently, but “villain” just fits him like a glove. Those eyes, that voice. I think they’re really going to create a memorable movie foil here, whether he ends up being Khan or not.
Also, what percentage of you went back and freezed the video when Alice Eve (Dr. Carol Marcus) was randomly in her underwear for no reason? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Weirdos. And by weirdos I mean “totally normal people.”

I love him in Sherlock. I can only imagine how well he plays a bad guy as he is borderline in that show.
That Alice Eve bit is hilariously deliberate. Clever marketers put a web link in that very shot, knowing many of us will freeze that frame anyway.

I’m SO looking forward for him to play Smaug. I think that will be epic.
