Taekwondo Spiderman Has Some Moves

Published by at 2:00 pm under Oddly Enough,Videos

Well, this is the greatest thing I’ve seen all day. It’s a guy who dressed up as Spider-Man to do some Taekwondo moves to a punching dummy the way the real Spider-Man might.

He’s actually quality talented, but the pajama suit and the “Ssssss” noise he makes whenever he lands a strike make this hilarious. This is how I imagine Peter Parker training in his basement before going out to fight actual crime later on.

Actually, after watching a few of these other videos, I guess he just always makes that sound. Is this a Taekwondo thing, or just a this guy thing?

It’s not really a Tae-Kwon-Do thing so much as just a martial arts thing. Not all schools teach it, but at tournaments you hear it pretty often. Letting out breath as you strike puts more force behind it, and that’s what he’s doing. It’s the same theory behind the classic “Kee-ai!” or “Hi-yah!” that martial artists yell, this is just a lesser version of it.

yes, it’s a tae kwon do thing.

The motivation is to provide tightening of the core/abdomen, which helps protect against counter attacks.

I’m sort of sad that he did not do this with a deadpool costume ala “a normal tuesday”.

I mean it’s fun and everything but I think it just requires a DP costume and some jokes and I’d laugh my ass off :)

Draugr nailed it; all about the abs… It’s also a lot like working out: breath out on exertion, in on the negative. Helps with your body rhythm… they even teach precision shooting like that at some schools: breath in, sight, trigger squeeze as you let out the breath, or immediately after.
