For Nerds in Training: A Star Wars Family Tree

family tree

If you’re reading this site, chances are you could have probably written this chart yourself, but some people may indeed have trouble keeping the families of Star Wars straight. The expanded universe in particular is somewhere that might lose people and though I’ve read a handful of the books, I’ve forgotten about the children the Solos and Skywalkers.

Of course, what everyone wants to know is what role the expanded universe will play in the new Star Wars films. Will we really see expanded universe stories brought to life onscreen? Will we see three Solo kids and a Mara Jade romance? I’m not sure, though I can’t say I’m entirely opposed.

While I don’t think JJ Abrams should use any specific books as a script, I don’t think that using a few of the expanded universe characters is the worst idea I’ve heard. When we’re hearing rumors that the original cast will appear as older versions of themselves, I have to imagine that they will indeed have children who would be the stars of the show.

What do you think? Should Abrams ditch or embrace the expanded universe?

Hi, I found something that might interest you, Paul Tassi, but I couldn’t find a way to contact you to share it on this site, so I’ll just do it here: Since you’re such a fan of Pokemon, I hope you’ll enjoy this: It’s a bass-heavy remix of the Pokemon theme!

I love the expanded universe, and i think he should embrace it. And i think it would be great to see Mr. Hamil as Luke and especially Mr. Ford as Han again. Carrie Fischer, dont care-no gold bikini.

I would say adapt the expanded universe but don’t copy any of them outright. You have to admit, some of the things that happen in the books are a little zany and might not work in movie form. But adapting it and using it as inspiration? Yes please.

I really want to get back into the EU but it’s been so long since I’ve read Star Wars series books it seems alittle daunting. I’ve read one off books here and there like Death Troopers and some others that aren’t a real series but I really want to get into the Darth Caedus stuff.

I can’t exactly remember where I left off, but it was about mid-way through the Yuuzhan Vong books. Last I recall some Jedi was captured and the Vong still hadn’t taken Crruscant. I really liked the series but I’m not sure where to pick up again or if I should just skip it and go into the later timeline stuff. Anyone have any suggestions?

how about depicting the characters during the years between the stories already told? i think they would be pretty stupid to not have the kids. it’ll help bring in audiences of all ages

Instead of looking forward, JJ should look back, perhaps going back to the dawn of the Jedi and Sith, which has only been touch on a bit in the Star Wars books. Hell, even do the Dare Bane books.

Abrams should embrace the EU because as a dedicated Star Wars fan I feel that the EU doesn’t ever get any attention and there are people out there who have no clue it exists so if he does flesh it out people will get into the books more and Star Wars can be expanded even further.

You also forgot some of the family tree like after Ben comes Nat and Kol Skywalker then Cade and after Jaina comes Roan Fel

they need to embrace the EU if they just throw it away they will be burning too many fans for another trilogy, weve all heard the stories that maybe they will do an origins story of boba or han solo and supposedly putting bieber as han solo which would be about as wrong as putting sandusky as barney in a new barnie series. harrison ford is eternally han as carrie fisher is leia and mark hammil is luke. as the EU carried on each new book carried an artists rendition of there face if it showed faces or on some like my beloved rogue squadron books it shows x wings in combat.
