Life of Pi is beautiful and fantastic. I wish it could take as many as possible awards. But looking at this list, looks like ol' Steve will take AAward for best director and picture. Shame

The fact that Skyfall didn't get a best picture nod or at the very least best supporting actress for Judy Dench is a disgrace!

Best Director had it's snubs (no Ben Affleck??? - look, I didn't love Argo like everyone else, but even I know he should have been nominated for best director), and I'm mixed on some of these Best Picture nominations . . .

Haven't seen Beasts of the Southern Wild, but the reason for that is I have a couple friends who would have appreciated the film much more than me who saw it and were very dissapointed with it. So, skipped that one. AMour is on my to see list, as it's what I've heard is the best film of the year.

If I was to be honest, I'd have to say The Master was my favorite film of the year. I'm not mad it didn't get the best pic nom as every major actor in it got a nomination. Besides, I'm well aware that The Master was the least inviting film for people who weren't ready to hunker down and take a good half of the film not literally. That's something the movie going public - even the self-declared "movie buffs" - aren't able to do. But it really isn't expected of them. The film could have done a better job guiding the audience (it did guide the audience, but sometimes it was too subtle for it's own good). Oh well, I couldn't have really expected it.

I haven't liked a Best Picture winner since The Hurt Locker, I think. Even then, that years was a little . . . well, unambitious. Much preferred 2007 with There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men. That was the last "great" year to me.
