Revisiting Childhood: An Unexpected Journey

Published by at 10:00 am under Editorials

And in Dragon Ball Z, there are plenty of scenes where fight clips are repeated over and over and a lot of unnecessary yelling takes place. Goku and Gohan serve as role models while we probably relate better to Vegeta or Piccolo now.

I would mention Disney movies, but they’ve seen their fair share of controversy due to alleged dirty words hidden in trees and waterfalls, well-placed animated erections, and blatant sexual language.

I just want to reiterate that I’m not trying to bash any of these shows or movies, but rather to examine them as an older, hopefully more mature individual who is just a little jaded by the world.

I’m not going to lie: I’m probably going to watch Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie again in a few days.

On a final, parting note, Super Mario Bros. was just as bad as I remember.

We came up with a great drinking game for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. It essentially boils down to this:

    Drink once when:

-The Power Rangers execute an unnecessary flip
-You hear the whoosh sound effect (made usually when the Power Rangers move their arms) while the Power Rangers are not actively fighting anyone

    Drink twice when:
    -Ivan Ooze makes a pun
    -Alpha says “Ayayayayaye”

    Finish your drink when:
-The Zords come together and form the Megazord

My best friend and I did the exact same thing. Saw Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie at Target for $5, bought it, watched it, still loved it even though it was a lot different from what we remembered it to be. Glad we weren’t the only ones :)

Nostalgia can be a killer like that. You don’t realize how cheesy some things are when you are a kid. I remember liking Dark Wing Duck when I was young but saw an episode a year or two back and thought “Ugh, this is terrible. I liked this?”. Haha. The Power Rangers movie is still alright, I still think their armors were pretty cool. You got to be ready for that nostalgia shock though.

Yellow Ranger died in a car crash years ago IIRC. Not that it is particularly relevant.

Its weird but I always find it odd when a celebrity dies. It shouldnt be but I still feel it when I hear of someone passing-like the Mr Myagi guy. Was gutted when he passed away.
