Unreality’s Borderlands 2 Co-op Friendship List of Magic

Published by at 1:00 pm under News,Video Games

A few of you had the idea the other day that you posted in my first Borderlands 2 journal. It seems any of us don’t have friends who are also playing the game much or at all, and as such, we have to play what’s meant to be a co-op experience (and a damn good one) all by ourselves. So, assuming that Unreality readers aren’t secretly dicks (if you are, you’re doing a good job of hiding it), perhaps we can play with each other.

In the comments below, if you feel like it, you can add your PSN name, Xbox Gamertag or SteamID. Additionally, it may be helpful to post your character class and level, for better matching. Then, if you readers want to play with each other, you can. Maybe there’s a better system for doing this, but I can’t think of it. I personally am probably not going to publicly post my info, as I don’t necessarily want the whole internet linking my real name with my Gamertag, but I may friend a few of you over the weekend if I manage to find time to play.

Borderlands is fun in co-op, but you have to respect certain rules. Loot drops should not just be snatched up by whoever reaches the chest first. Frankly, there aren’t all that many weapons chests to begin with, and as such, if your class uses one type of gun more frequently than others, keep that in mind. For example, a soldier or gunzerker should probably get assault rifles. An assassin should probably get snipers or +melee weapons. A Siren? I don’t know, you probably can’t give all elemental weapons to her.

Anyway, if you play with each other (or me, I suppose), let me know how it goes!

    I just had a conversation with a co-worker this morning about how friends will jump into your game and turn quests in. This is a major pet peev. Another rule should be to make sure that the host of the game accepts/turns in the quests. It drives me nuts when friends come in and ruin the story for me.

    I went a full night with a couple of friends and I’m still not sure why co-op is considered superior to soloing in this game. I enjoyed it, but again, I couldn’t really enjoy the game’s writing and pacing as we were relegated to dashing through every area trying to kill every enemy first. It was also a loot free for all since we weren’t really exploring and if you didn’t grab it there was no guarantee anyone else was going to either. You can always give the gun to someone else later, anyways. Every time I stopped to loot I’d look up and my buds would be halfway to the next objective. It was still fun, but not what I’d call the “true” Borderlands experience. If you want to explore, loot the place from top to bottom, and enjoy the story and characters at all, I’d have to recommend soloing the game first and then going to co-op for repeat arcade-style playthroughs.

    I’m a considerate player -you would not BELIEVE the shotgun I gave up the other day- and I’ve played an equal amount of co-op and solo with two different characters (who are both currently at level 10-11). I don’t get to play much with my work schedule and when I do it’s usually from about 1 AM to 4 AM Pacific Time, but if anyone is interested in some late night co-op gaming my XBL tag is trashcanman 345.

    I’ve been a frequent reader of unreality, a non-existent commenter on unreality. Big fan of the first Borderlands and have been enjoying the second as well. Matchmaking has been a bit frustrating as there are too many sudden host-ended games. Typically an evening gamer after the work day. Right now I’m a level 10 or 11 Commando on xbox live, GT: SWLABeardedRbow

    Feel Free to add me.

    Keep up the good work with the site. Definitely brings some interesting reads throughout the work day.

    @trashcanman 345
    I do not currently have Borderlands 2, I only have one like half my friends do (I saved up for Halo 4 Limited, can always get Borderlands 2 later). I’m looking for people to play with that aren’t total douchebags like Halo Reach ends up being alot these days. Hit me up sometime ShadowSkull13X (you may have seen me on Reach recently, I do remember seeing trashcanman somewhere)

    Anyone can add me: Bee Eye Eee. I just got the game so I’m level 1. I will play with anyone but my biggest pet peeve (probably like a lot of people’s) is running off to something else w/o checking to see if the rest of the party is ready. It’s the main reason I stopped playing Left 4 Dead.

    Yeah trashcanman sounds very familiar to me too, I think we had a run-in playing battlefield 3 or maybe ghost recon. anyway my gamertag is TONYDETH (yeah I know it’s misspelled don’t judge me!) anyone is free to hit me up with a f.r. I usually play in the evenings east coast.

    My psn tag is the same as my name on here, beorach. I’ve got a commando to 15, I believe…and other classes aside from the hunter (zero?) somewhere behind… My sons and I play together on 3 consoles sometimes but I think that’s still through psn (& I haven’t tried figuring out how to set it to LAN only).

    I think I mentioned my issues in the OCD article but because of those, I HAVE/NEED to finish the DLC in BL1 before I can play this game. Apparently, the Moxxi content is really difficult or time consuming or something? I guess I’ll get to play BL sometime next year….**sigh**
