That Guy Actor of the Week: Christopher Lee
With all due respect to Asian folks everywhere, when you see the name Christopher Lee do you not think that he’d be an Asian person? Who in the hell would think “that’s that Saruman dude from Lord of the Rings!” And who the hell would know that Christopher Lee has 275 titles to his name on IMDB!
That very well might be the most we’ve ever had on this site. Hell I had no idea this guy was in as much stuff as he has been. I only remember him as that wacky scientist in Gremlins 2: The New Batch. But Lee has one hell of an extensive resume. And let’s not forget that he’s also 90 years old. Yes, 90.
He’ll be in the upcoming Hobbit movies and I’m amazed he’s still around. A clip of Lee after the jump

i dunno, maybe im just a huge nerd, but this is definitely not a “that guy”, i’d say hes pretty well known.
Yeah it seems pretty ignorant of you to think that he’s not a very well known actor, the guy is a legend and has been around forever.
He was probably in 200+ Hammer Horror movies alone (some exaggeration may be present in the previous statement).
And while I’m thinking about it, a little fact that most movie fans will know anyway but he was the only member of the Lord of the Rings cast / crew to have actually MET J.R.R. Tolkien.

He was an important Character in the LotR and Star Wars movies, he played Dracula more than once. If you’re a movie fan, you know who Christopher Lee is. It’s like having Vincent Price be the That Guy Actor of the week
Also the fact that he was a total badass superspy in World War II (along with Roald Dahl and Ian Fleming).
But seriously, pretty much anyone who’s appeared in The Lord of the Rings isn’t a very good That Guy choice.
How in the hell can anyone say Christopher Lee is a “That Guy?” I get that you’re running out of people after such a long time doing this, but err on the side of the unknown vs picking someone who was in two of the biggest trilogies of the past decade.
Definitely not “That Guy”. As stated above, he’s a cult status legend in horror, and not only.
Also in a metal band and an ex wet works operator during world war 2.

Gotta do more research in the future, Christopher Lee is a an absolute beast when it comes to acting credit and status in the business. I would say as well known as Ian McKellen himself.
He’ll always have a special place in my heart for his involvement with the powermetal band Rhapsody (of Fire).
