NASA Mission Control During Mars Curiosity’s Landing

Published by at 2:00 pm under Videos

We’re a generation without anything close to a moon landing, as we currently think it’s better to spend our money on war than science. But once in a while a cool moment comes along in the scientific field that’s worth celebrating.

Last night, NASA bit their nails as they waited to hear that the Curiosity rover had landed safely on Mars. With careful calculations, it did just that, and has already been tweeting photos from the surface. Yes, our Mars rover is tweeting.

This video shows the tense environment in the control room as the rover descends, and at 2:30, it touches down resulting in a celebration that will almost bring a tear to your eye. We need more moments like this in the world.
