The Morning Link: The Worst Emmy Snubs of the Year
“What are the most egregious Emmy snubs of 2012? This list includes television shows, actors and actresses who really deserved, but didn’t get, a Primetime Emmy nomination from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. There are always snubs and surprises when it comes to awards show nominations, and this year was no exception. This list includes some of the biggest, most shocking 2012 Emmy snubs.”

It is pretty clear that the group doling out the emmy nominations is out of touch. 30 Rock hasn’t been worthy of a nom for the past three years, yet it is still there. What’s truly baffling is how they can nominate Parks and Rec twice for writing, and one of their actors, but not give it a nomination for outstanding comedy series. So outstanding comedy writing + outstanding comedy acting ≠ outstanding comedy? Amazingly they make that decision twice by doing the same thing to Louie. There is a really simple solution. Drop Modern Family, the Big Bang Theory, and 30 Rock. Add Louie, Parks and Rec, and Community. They also need to calm down on the Modern Family nominations. Take out Jesse Tyler Fergusen and Ed O’Neill. I’d replace them with Nick Offerman and Tony Hale. There may be a better option than Hale, but they owe him for Arrested Development.
As for Drama, I would have liked to see Alfie Allen and Lena Heady get noms for Game of Thrones. They killed it this season, though I suppose I should just be happy that they nominated Dinklage. I’d say they got the Drama series right, at least. As for lead actor, I think Michael C. Hall should be dropped. He did a fine job, as usual, but this season was pretty bad. No part of it deserves and award. Hugh Laurie should be there instead.
So, the Emmy’s are dead to me. What else is new?
