GIF of the Week: Is This Real or Not?

Published by at 9:00 am under Images

It’s rare that we post something that doesn’t have much to do with television or movies or video games.   However I would definitely say that this GIF falls in the category of “Unreal.”   I mean it clearly doesn’t look real.  And that begs the question of “is this real?”

I mean it sure as hell looks real.  I’m guessing this could conceivably happen.   My only reservation however, is the sheer distance this guy travels.   Usually when people fall off a treadmill it’s way more sudden and their body doesn’t fly like this.

What do you guys think?

That’s actually from the movie, Mr. Woodcock. Thats Sean Williams Scott flying off of the treadmill and that is Billy Bob Thorton on the other. Horrible movie, btw.

Isn’t that Sean William Scott in ‘Mr Woodcock’? Pretty sure that’s Billy Bob Thornton on the treadmill next to him.

    Oops, sorry for repeating Scott.

obviously fake. Once he’s off the treadmill, you can see he’s pulled back by a new force (wires yank him backwards).

No it is not real… i mean it can’t happen in real life i have tried it ( do not attempt to do it it hurts like hell) and it cant launch you that far, also the bars from the weights ( don’t know what they are called :P ) can’t break so easily i think

Were it real, would it first have zoomed in on him setting the treadmill to freefall?

I like how the 2 barbell from the top bends as he’s hitting the hack….sigh.

  8. jaromiron 21 May 2012 at 11:28 am

oops by “hack” I meant rack..sorry

obviously fake…yes it is from Mr. Woodcock, and look at the free weights in the back the bars break in half. No real free weights would break in half.

FAIL on nattyb for not realizing this is a movie…. or fake. seriously? what real-life camera is going to cut to a close-up of the guy changing the speed?

    *facepalm*

Considering there’s only about 20 million videos on youtube of people doing the same thing, it’d be pretty quick to see how this couldn’t be real. One thing not pointed out: If barbells that heavy fell on someone, there’s no way they’d roll away after it landed on them, they’d be pinned down.

I think the real question is “Was this post real or not”?

I just looked at my calendar to double check if it’s April Fool’s or not.

That’s freaking BILLY BOB THORNTON on the other treadmill! What do you mean “Is it real?”
Also, THERE’S A FRAME CUT!!! I guess they needed to edit the “real” video for credibility.
