1994′s Fantastic Four – Superhero Movies Have Come a Long Way
Perhaps it will hurt my geek cred to admit it, but I had no idea that a 1994 version of the Fantastic Four ever existed. It’s roughly in the same class as the old Punisher, Spider-man and Captain America movies, but wow, it’s pretty bad. It feels like its more out of the ’60s than the ’90s.
It’s kind of insane to see the transformation from this (actually unreleased) movie to the one a decade later in 2005. Sure, the budget was larger, but it seems EONS apart. The jump probably won’t be as severe by 2015, but still, you have to wonder what the big budget action movies of the near future are going to look like as technology continues to evolve.
Do actual copies of this exist anywhere? I kind of want to watch the whole thing.

You can usually pick up bootleg copies at comic book conventions. You could probably download a bit torrent also.

I’ve seen this movie and is so bad it’s awesome. Rotoscoped Johnny Storm is the best! It never got released so you’ll have to look for a torrent.

It was made only because studio would’ve lost the lisence to Fantastic Four if it didn’t make a movie about it. This movie was never ment to be released. IIRC even actors didn’t know this when they were filming this.
To the trailer’s defense: I think they quite nailed DrDoom and The Thing!
But it looks like they spent 90% of the Budget on those costumes – the rest looks indeed much much older!
Yeah, I remember seeing this preview as a kid, I think on a VHS. Was looking forward to it and wondering what happened to it way back then. Then I found it was never released. After seeing this preview I don’t think I want to sit through it now that I can actually watch it.
The old Punisher wasn’t that bad imo, at the time. But I’ve not seen it since the 90′s, and so many things aren’t as good as I remember when I go back to watch them.
The movie was never intended for this movie to be released they gave corman 500,000 and said make a movie so we can keep the rights to the franchise.
This informaiton was given to me directly from roger corman himself when i talked with him at the 2009 trinity of horrors convention in las vegas.
In an interview with the filmmaker Kevin Smith, Stan Lee, the creator of the “Fantastic Four”, said that, unknown to its cast and crew, this movie was never intended to be released, and it was made only because the studio that owned the rights to make a “Fantastic Four” movie would have lost those rights if it did not begin production by a certain date.
