What about television? First thing that came to mind for me was The Shield. Michael Chiklis was a comedic after before he did that show. And I don’t think I need to tell anybody who seen it how serious of a part he did. likewise later on in the seasons Anthony Anderson joined the cast as when the most terrifying gangsters I have ever seen. There’s also another FX show, Rescue Me, which starred comedian Denis Leary in a very serious role. Or how about Patton Oswalt in Dollhouse?
