I haven’t played Halo in so long, that it sometimes seems like a distant memory. But I would be remiss if I didn’t remember that Halo 3 was probably the most time I’ve ever put into a single game (outside of N64′s Super Smash Bros.), and contained some of my most treasured gaming memories. Four player local splitscreen multiplayer in college was a blast, and NO game has been able to rival how fun that was since.
Bungie is wrapping up their time with the series, and as they hand over duties to 343 for Halo 4, they came out with this infographic that shows how eight years of Halo has gone by the numbers. Kills, deaths and everything in between is listed here, and it really gives you a sense of the massive scope of the game. I am glad to see I wasn’t the only one who jumped ship from the series after Reach turned out to be lackluster. There were good elements about that game, but I singlehandedly blame armor powers for how much I hated it.
How will the next games turn out? Honestly, I have no idea. 343 is pretty much building the game from the ground up, so it could be amazing or it could feel entirely different from the series as we’ve known it. I’m hoping the legacy lives on and I’ll have another game I love as much as Halo 3, but who knows.
