The Darker Side of Mario
I’ve seen Pokemon get a few dark makeovers over the past year, but another famous Nintendo franchise hasn’t yet worked its way into my nightmares. Until now.
Mario has been given the horror treatment by artist MPuncekar, who takes all the villains from the game and imagines them in rather terrifying ways. You think Bullet Bill looks intense? Just wait until you see the Goombas, Koopas, Whomps and Birdo. Who thought you could make THAT fruity dinosaur scary?
The full gallery is below, and I’m sure it’s too much to hope for that these designs ever make it into a harder edged Mario game.
