If you like the space-wasting Skyrim menus so much that you want to look at them always, there’s a new skin for Windows that allows you to do just that, and it can make your desktop look like the image above.

How do you do it? I’ll walk you through the steps.

1. Install Rainmeter, which is how you make all sorts of crazy desktop skins for Windows.

2. Download and use this Skyrim skin from DeviantArtist Axerron.

3. Tweak it with options and new images until you get what you want. For reference, there are a lot of amazing Skyrim screenshots here and here.

5. Profit

Paul, I don’t use the word “hero” very often, but you are the greatest hero in American history.

This was awesome. Now I’m addicted to rainmeter, and I’m in love with my desktop. Anybody with Window 7, I’m still stuck with Vista, know if you can get rainmeter to cycle your “theme” of skins when you cycle wallpapers? Because if it did that, I may have to go buy a new computer immediately.

How do you hide the windows bar? If I choose hide there is still always a small part of it to see.
